We take education seriously, knowing that it has the power to help LGBTQ people overcome complex social and economic barriers. For over 20 years, we have partnered with donors to create scholarships that provide unique opportunities and access to education, both in New York City and throughout the country.

 
 

The Aritzia Scholarship

Established by Aritzia, a fashion retailer with an innovative global platform, this scholarship supports LGBTQIA people in their pursuit of higher education. Four students will receive one-time scholarships of $5,000 each, paid directly to the student’s school.

The application consists of 3 short essay questions, a letter of recommendation, and transcripts from your latest academic institution. There is no minimum GPA requirement. Centered on Aritzia’s values, the scholarship prioritizes students who demonstrate excellence and creativity and who strive to make a positive impact on their communities.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, or two-spirit;

  • Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate school in the United States; and

  • Study, plan to work in, or demonstrate a commitment to the fields of fashion design, retail management, mental health, or social justice advocacy.

Please note that applicants must be current college or university students. High school seniors (rising college freshmen or first-year students) are not eligible to apply.

Traub-Dicker Rainbow Scholarship


The Traub-Dicker Rainbow Scholarship was established by Peggy Traub and Phyllis Dicker to encourage and support lesbians in their pursuit of higher education. This program provides one-year scholarships of $4,000 to several students graduating high school or already enrolled in college in any year of study, including graduate school. Scholarships are paid directly to the recipient’s school and are applied toward tuition.

The application consists of 3 short essay questions, a letter of recommendation, and transcripts from your latest academic institution. There is no minimum GPA requirement. Submissions are judged on academic achievement, community service and leadership, and commitment to impacting LGBTQ issues.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Identify as a lesbian

  • Plan to attend a college or university in the United States (including graduate school) in Fall 2022

The 2024 Traub-Dicker Rainbow Scholarship application will be available in Spring 2024.


Little Bird Scholarship for LGBTQI Immigrants

Awarding a total of $18,000 for up to two years of school, the Little Bird Scholarship provides a measure of financial stability to undergraduate students who are both LGBTQ or intersex and undocumented immigrants, including refugees and individuals seeking or granted asylum.

The application consists of 2-3 short essay questions, a letter of recommendation, and transcripts from your current academic institution. There is no minimum GPA requirement.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • not hold U.S. citizenship, a green card, or an F-1 visa;

  • be enrolled at an accredited, nonprofit school in New York City; and

  • be rising juniors or seniors.

Please note that all application information is kept confidential. In addition, applicants do not need to include any information they feel unsafe sharing.
