Combating the slate of hate
At Stonewall, we’ve been closely following the growing slate of anti-trans legislation throughout the country. We know that the current slew of bills that aim to limit trans peoples’ access to healthcare; prevent trans youth from participating in school and sports; and criminalize drag performers are part of a strategic attack on all LGBTQ people. These attacks that explicitly target transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary community are not only cruel and deadly, but also a road test for dismantling the human rights of all marginalized groups and a deliberate entrenchment of the power of an ultranationalist, misogynist, white, and conservative Christian supremacist minority.
We’ve also been taking action. We’ve been having conversations with and funding local and national organizations that are combatting these attacks on all fronts, from amplifying the voices of trans youth, to providing mental health services to people in the states most affected by these bills, to fighting for and defending legal protections for all trans and queer people.
Below are trusted organizations we encourage you to support, whether through your Stonewall DAF or other means. These groups are working to ensure the safety and dignity of trans people in particularly vulnerable places.
