Team Stonewall is growing! We’re thrilled to announce that Michael Barret Jones will be joining us as Stonewall’s new Major Gifts Officer in January of 2020. A community activist and fundraiser for over 25 years, Michael has a strong track record in the field of nonprofit development. Most recently supporting the Tyler Clementi Foundation’s anti-bullying work as Director of Development, Michael previously spent eight years at Iris House, a center for women living with HIV in East Harlem.
Supplementing his professional endeavors, Michael also serves as vice-president of Folsom Street East, and has served on several nonprofit boards, including the Imperial Court of New York, Big Apple Performing Arts, and the Gay Activists Alliance of Morris County.
Michael, as alter-ego Witti Repartee, is well-known in NYC’s LGBTQ community for serving as Queen of the NYC Gay Men’s Chorus, Empress XXVI of New York’s Imperial Court, and Queen of the New York Leathermen, and from his thousands of appearances over the years, ranging from singer and emcee to fundraiser and contest judge. Witti is the Queen Mum of Rockbar and hosts The Eagle NYC’s monthly Continuum program, a free, intergenerational social and educational event inspired by SAGE.
Michael earned a BA in Theater and English (with a minor in Gender Studies) from Drew University in Madison, NJ. He is a board game enthusiast, a Patti LuPone devotee, and lives in Brooklyn with his husband, Kerry.
